Rajma is a popular vegetarian dish. The combination of Rajma and rice generally lists as a top favorite of North Indians.
Ingredients
- Rajma / Kidney Beans 1 cup dried
- Onion 1 large chopped finely
- Tomato-3 pureed
- Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder / Dhania 1 tbsp
- Red chilli powder 2 tsp
- Cumin seeds / Jeera 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder / haldi 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves for garnishing / Dhania
- Oil 4 tbsp
Method
- Soak Rajma over night,drain it…Put this in pressure cooker and add a little bit of salt..The pressure cook for 3 whistles and leave for 25-30 min on a slow flame..Then switch off the flame and let the pressure go down automatically and open it up..The Beans should be soft when pressed.
- Heat oil in a kadai and add in cumin seeds..Add in onions and fry till golden.
- Add in turmeric powder and mix well.Add in ginger garlic paste and cook that for 1 min.
- Add in chilli and coriander powder and mix well.
- Pour in tomato puree and cook that till oil separtes from this.
- Add in garam masala powder and mix well.
- Tip in the cooked rajma along with the cooking water and mix well.
- Cook on a slow flame till oil separates.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve it with rice or roti
